Professor Antonin Chapoy

Prof Antonin Chapoy holds a DEA (MSc) in Chemical Engineering (Université d’Aix-Marseille, Marseille, France, 2001), an MSc in Energy Engineering (Institut Universitaire des Systémes Thermiques et Industriels, Marseille, France, 2001) and a PhD in Chemical Engineering (Paris School of Mines, France, 2004). Following the completion of his PhD, he joined the Centre for Gas Hydrate Research at Heriot-Watt as a Research Associate. Dr Chapoy has over 15 years of research experience of gas hydrate and hydrocarbon phase behaviour and has managed a wide range of projects, predominately sponsored by industry. Currently a Research Fellow at Heriot-Watt, he is first or co-author on over 150 refereed journal and conference publications, primarily concerning gas hydrates, flow assurance and water-hydrocarbon phase behaviour.

Dr Rod Burgass

Following graduation from the University of Aberdeen, UK (1983), Rod Burgass worked on routine and special core analysis, first for Redwood Corex (1984 to 1988), then Corelabs (1988 to 1989). In 1989, he took up a research position at Heriot-Watt University, first within the Reservoir fluids Group, then the Gas Hydrate Group, during which he obtained his MPhil (1995) and PhD (2015). Currently a Research Fellow at Heriot-Watt, He has over 20 years experience of hydrocarbon PVT, hydrate and flow assurance studies, and is first or co-author on over 60 refereed journal and conference publications, primarily concerning reservoir fluid phase behaviour, and avoiding hydrates/wax problems in the oil and gas industry.

Dr Pezhman Ahmadi

Dr Pezhman Ahmadi holds a BSc in Chemical Engineering ( Shiraz University, Iran, 2009), an MSc in Reservoir engineering (University of Tehran, Iran, 2015). He did his PhD in Petroleum Engineering at Hydrate, Flow Assurance and Phase Equilibria research group at Heriot-Watt University in 2018. He has experience of working as R&D staff at Isfahan Oil Refinery, and as a laboratory director at the Institute of Petroleum Engineering at the University of Tehran. Currently, he is a postdoctoral research associate at Hydrate Flow Assurance and Phase Equilibria, and his research mainly focuses on the thermophysical properties of carbon-rich mixtures (at various stages of carbon capture, transportation and storage) and industrial fluids.
